Prof. Sherry Bell Surrette will share the impacts of The Sustainable Home Program, which strives to make the connection between Zero-Waste living and improved financial well-being in underserved communities. The Sustainable Home Program was developed and uses social marketing to create long-term behavior change.
Adrian Hernandez will present the practical best practices that empower cities and counties to become waste-reduction leaders. By embracing these practical measures, local governments can significantly reduce their environmental footprint while leading the charge towards a more sustainable future.
ZeroWaste.Org has been working to understand how to best equip a small community of champions to affect change from within cities, institutions, and businesses. Samuel McMullen will present their theory of change and how they have used digital marketing, events, PR, and coalition building to grow a movement for Zero Waste in Ann Arbor that bridges individual and systemic action and marries top-down and bottom-up strategies.
