Timonie Hood

Timonie is a Zero Waste and Green Building Coordinator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Pacific Southwest Office in San Francisco covering California, Arizona, Nevada, Hawaii, the Pacific Islands and 148 tribes.

She works with national teams on major new federal funding programs advancing Zero Waste and works closely with partners with Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa on Zero Waste initiatives. She previously as a co-led the Bay Area Deconstruction Workgroup, co-chaired of EPA’s Green Building Workgroup; and co-created the EPA/American Institute of Architects/Building Materials Reuse Association Lifecycle Building Challenge – an online competition on designing buildings for adaptation, disassembly and reuse.

She has been recognized as the Recycler of the Year by the California Resource Recovery Association, received the Bay Area Federal Employee of the Year Chair’s Award, became the first federal LEED Accredited Professional and was a TRUE Advisor. Timonie holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University and a law degree from Arizona State University.

Recently, she has been working with Pacific Islands colleagues to develop and implement Zero Waste Plans and with the Bay Area Deconstruction Workgroup to develop safe deconstruction and building materials reuse policies and actions.

Previously, she Co-Chaired EPA’s Green Building Workgroup and co-created and managed the EPA/American Institute of Architects/Building Materials Reuse Association Lifecycle Building Challenge – an online competition on designing buildings for adaptation, disassembly and reuse.

Timonie holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University and a law degree from Arizona State University.
