Mike Ewall, Esq.

Mike Ewall, Esq. is the founder and Executive Director of Energy Justice Network, a national nonprofit supporting communities to transition from polluting energy and waste facilities to clean energy and zero waste systems. His work has led to the defeat of dozens of waste incinerators and other proposed dirty energy and waste facilities. With over 30 years of experience with waste incineration issues, Ewall is a leading national expert. He is the principal author of the 2021 report, “Beyond Incineration: Best Waste Management Strategies for Montgomery County, Maryland,” which documented that incineration is more than three times as damaging to health and the environment than landfilling. In 2003, he developed the Zero Waste Hierarchy, the basis for the Zero Waste International Alliance standard.
