Laura is a 2nd generation Zero Waste community organizer. In 2007, she helped establish a local nonprofit organization called Zero Waste San Diego which integrated the Zero Waste approach when handling discards for the San Diego Earth Fair. In 2016, she started the San Diego Fixit Clinic and has hosted over 300 clinics throughout the county.
In 2019, she became the Program Coordinator of Save the Albatross Coalition that focuses on advocating connecting bottle caps to containers as a means to prevent marine debris. She graduated from San Diego State University with a Women’s Students major in 2000 and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University in 2012.
