As Manager, Environmental Programs and Retail Compliance Center, Kaela maintains programs for the Retail Compliance Center (RCC) and Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) as a whole that focus on helping retailers improve their performance through benchmarking, education, resources, and program management tools. Kaela also leads the RCC’s Zero Waste Network and Energy Management Network, which both provide a forum for retail executives to hear from experts and engage peer-to-peer benchmarking on the implementation, management, and oversight of retail waste and energy programs.
Prior to joining RILA, Kaela was a business sustainability advisor for Boulder County in Colorado. During this time, Kaela advised and supported businesses on waste, energy, water and transportation projects. Additionally, Kaela aided the City of Boulder on their universal Zero Waste ordinance and helped to ensure local businesses were in compliance. Kaela also developed and supported several waste diversion programs at the City & County of Denver and the University of Denver.
Kaela holds a B.S. in Environmental Science and a M.S. in Environmental Policy and Management from the University of Denver.
