I grew up in Berkeley, CA back in the early ’70s, in a house where recycling was the norm. I am proud to say that I was educated in public schools from kindergarten all the way through California’s community college system (Merritt College), CSU (Sacramento State) and UC systems (UC San Diego grad). I took my first backpacking trip with the Sierra Club in 1971 and I still spend most of my vacation time camping with family and friends. I’m a husband, dad, cook, runner, and amateur photographer.
