CJ has focused on the plastic pollution crisis for most of her career. Her research on microplastic has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and she’s worked on numerous campaigns at the local, state, federal, and institutional levels that tackle plastic pollution at the source. CJ has a master’s degree in Development Practice from Emory University with a focus on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and Environmental Conservation.
In her current role as Surfrider’s Ocean Friendly Programs Manager, she supports Surfrider’s vast volunteer network, helps businesses reduce unnecessary single-use plastic, and connects the program outcomes to Surfrider’s plastic policy campaigns. When not working, CJ is either exploring the springs of central Florida where she lives, or making the trip to Florida’s beautiful coasts to scuba dive.
