Cecilia Allen is the Global Projects Advisor for GAIA, focused on strengthening the work on zero waste through global initiatives. She re-joined GAIA in 2017, and previously served as GAIA’s Regional Coordinator for Latin America and The Caribbean for nine years.
Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and now based in Cordoba, Cecilia is a Sociologist at the University of Buenos Aires. She has been part of the environmental justice movement for almost 20 years and worked with communities and organizations from different regions promoting and helping shape zero waste policies. She has also worked at the Environmental Protection Agency of Buenos Aires city, implementing programs on organics, recyclables and e-waste, as well as partnerships with local organizations.
Other organizations she has been part of include Aves Argentinas/BirdLife and the Argentine Anti-Incineration Citizens Coalition, and also served as a board member of Health Care Without Harm Latin America.
