Annette Poliwka

Annette is passionate about the outdoors and has been working in the environmental sector for over 20 years to protect the nature we all like to enjoy. She’s driven trucks and sorted recycling for the San Francisco Conservation Corps, worked for the City of San Francisco, as well as the US Environmental Protection Agency, in both Washington DC and New York City. Key projects include: electronic waste research and programming, creating a sustainability plan for the Caribbean, and launching the Trash Free Waters Program. She sailed with 5 Gyres from Bermuda to New York, conducting research and collecting samples of plastic pollution. Annette was previously appointed to the Berkeley Zero Waste Commission by the Mayor where she served as Vice Chair, and serves on the boards of National Cleanup Day and Keep Tahoe Blue.
