Amanda is a Zero Waste advocate, educator, and consultant. She lives in Gainesville, FL, and has been instrumental in getting Gainesville and Alachua County on the path to Zero Waste through her volunteer work as Director of Zero Waste Gainesville. She is also the Director of Zero Waste at The Repurpose Project in Gainesville. She works with K-12 schools, small businesses, and events to get them to Zero Waste. She also creates educational material on Zero Waste, plastic pollution, reuse, environmental and social justice related to plastic pollution, and Zero Waste communities.
Amanda is the Zero Waste USA Affiliate and Education Program Manager.
Amanda is a Zero Waste consultant working with the Zero Waste Associates team. As a Zero Waste consultant, Amanda and the team prepare Zero Waste plans for communities nationwide using a stakeholder and data-driven approach.
Amanda has a Master of Science degree in Ecology from the University of Florida. She spent many years as a biologist studying the American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis) and amphibian communities in situ. As a result, Amanda deeply understands natural systems, where nothing is wasted. Her Zero Waste work integrates that knowledge and expertise of the biological system’s continual cycle of resources and nutrients.
Amanda is certified as a Zero Waste Associate and has a certificate in Sustainable Resources Management.
