About Ashritha

Ashritha Kalakuntla is a student at Emory University attending under the Robert W. Woodruff scholarship, majoring in Environmental Science with a concentration in Environmental Management and minoring in Data Science. She is also the Co-President of Plastic Free Emory (PFE): a student-led initiative dedicated to phasing out single-use plastics (SUPs) across Emory’s campuses.

In the past, PFE worked closely with Emory’s administration to pass the Break Free From Plastic Pledge, committing Emory to developing tangible SUP reduction policies and implementing sustainable alternatives. PFE was also instrumental in bringing reusable take-out bowls to Emory’s primary dining hall (the Dobbs Common Table), assisting Emory’s Student Government Association and eliminating single-use containers.
