Jacquie Hilterman

I have earned two Master’s degrees and started my career working for environmental non-profit organizations focused on ocean conservation in the San Francisco Bay area. After a decade and a move back home to Indiana, I returned to my first love of animals and began working at a small animal veterinary hospital. I quickly realized how environmentally unfriendly they are and started trying to make a difference (revamping the recycling program, diverting EPS styrofoam coolers to be downcycled, and educating colleagues). After 8 years, I founded Dogwood Consulting to empower veterinary hospitals to become more sustainable (e.g. through daily actions like better procurement as well as longer-term planning like purchasing renewable electricity). I am a TRUE Zero Waste Advisor, have a Sustainability Excellence Associate credential, and am a member of the International Society for Sustainability Professionals. I’m from the midwest, have lived on both coasts, and am now settled in Colorado happily exploring the mountains.
