Plastic pollution is a global crisis, and an international movement has been building over the last several years to address its devastating impacts. This has culminated in a series of United Nations negotiations to create a legally binding global treaty covering the full lifecycle of plastics, from extraction, to production, to distribution and disposal. ZWUSA and GAIA have assembled an international panel that examines the impacts of the United States’ outsized role as a top producer and exporter of plastics, and asks, what is the vision of a just and equitable zero waste future that a strong Global Plastics Treaty could achieve?
