The National Zero Waste Conference has filled all needed volunteer positions. If any more positions become available, we will post information here.


The National Zero Waste Conference is seeking volunteers to serve as Room Monitors, Registration Ambassadors, and assist with conference setup and close-out. The event takes place at Cal Berkeley in Berkeley, California on March 18 & 19, 2020.

We are looking for volunteers that are comfortable in a professional environment, enjoy volunteering, and are eager to help. Each volunteer shift is four (4) hours.

Role: Room Monitor

  • Provide event support. 
  • Responsibilities may include various event-support activities and will be assigned based on priority: 
    • Session Setup and Speaker contact – be the primary liaison with speakers and ensure the room is properly set
    • Checking attendees into the session
    • Take notes during the session
    • Notify staff of any issues or need for assistance on behalf of the speakers

Role: Registration Ambassador

  • Provide event support. 
  • Responsibilities may include various event-support activities and will be assigned based on priority: 
    • Welcome attendees and assist with badge printing/check-in
    • Assist with directions for attendees
    • Direct issues or day-of registration to appropriate staff leads
    • Assist with other tasks as needed

Role: Conference Setup and Close-out

  • Provide event support. 
  • Responsibilities may include various event-support activities and will be assigned based on priority: 
    • Set-up support may include placing signage, setting out materials, setting up the exhibit spaces, and more
    • Close-out will include gathering and packaging all setup areas
